S eriously. Not this one, but one that looks exactly like it.

My inlaws had a routan and a azera as their dailies, but they recently bought a CR-V. They kept the azera and let their nephew drive it while he was at school here, but he no longer needs it. He was going to sell it for 3500. its like 78,000 miles and it immaculate condition. I told him I would buy it at that price but he insist on letting me use it as long as I want for free so long as I insure it and take care of the maintenance .

Up to date on all service, new computer, new tires.

Should be a very agreeable daily driver that will allow me to keep the cruiser from accumulating miles and do more maintenance myself.

Score.  Though I would still rather buy it so I wouldn’t have that mild guilt of obligation.

Between gas and wear and tear being saved, you’ll probably save money in the long run.

Those are oddly good looking, they seem to be aging well compared to everything else in the Hyundai lineup at the time

It’s not a bad car. The design has aged well.

even if I paid 3500 for I would break even on gas alone in 4 years.

they aren’t....great.  They are poorly assembled but its comfy, quick and reasonable on fuel.

R ented one of those for work once - it was really nice. The seats were a little soft for my taste but otherwise it was a great “eat up the miles” car.

The closest thing I can think of is a late 90's DeVille.  Same leather smell, same torque steer, same floaty suspension.

Y eah you definitely should buy it. It can be a little weird with that over you.

Agreed. They wont even discuss selling it to me. He wants me to store the cruiser at a garage we store our camp trailer at his rental property. I think he’s hoping my cruiser will be freed up for communal use. It will not.

He’s the nicest guy ever, and I love him to death, but I don’t like people driving my cars. at all.

I still have my hail-totalled ‘06, as my kids will need a car to start wrecking next year. Oddly high seat position, floaty ride with zero seat bolstering, but pretty much hauls ass. I liked the 60k miles I put on it overall (at 158k now). These have aged well, and Id argue the Sonatas of this era have also.

Edit: Hyundai was VERY proud of their efforts putting these to market, and the build quality shows ( no issues with overall operation or interior/exterior trim)

are these timing belt or chain?

Its chain. Wear items and fluids. At 158k my front suspension is a little chattery as expected but still solid too. Think of as a better made Buick

What about offering to donate to a charity of their choosing and they’ll sign the title over? You get a tax deduction, a car, and a cause gets some money.

He had his front suspension redone recently because it was squeeking
